Who is responsible
The owner of shaunteles.com is responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, email the site owner (the same address as the “mail me” link in the footer).
What we collect
Analytics, only if you click Accept. Nothing analytics-related loads until you accept in the cookie banner. If you accept, two tools start:
- Google Analytics 4 counts visits and pages viewed, with your device, browser and approximate location. It sets cookies such as
_ga. - Microsoft Clarity records how you use the page (clicks, scrolling, mouse movement) as session recordings and heatmaps. It sets cookies such as
_clckand_clsk.
If you click Reject, neither tool loads. If you later withdraw consent, their cookies on this site are deleted and the page reloads.
Your cookie choice. Your Accept or Reject is saved in your browser's local storage (under the key cookie-consent) for 6 months, so the banner does not ask on every page. It never leaves your browser.
Hosting logs. Like every website, the hosting provider (Vercel) records technical data for each request: IP address, time, page requested and browser type. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Fonts, images and videos. The site's fonts load from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com), and most images and videos load from ImageKit. Some book covers load from Open Library, Amazon/Goodreads and publishers' sites, and one case study embeds a YouTube video. Loading any of these sends your IP address to that provider, because your browser downloads the file from them directly.
Feedback form and email. If you use the Feedback form, the name (optional), email address, message and topics you enter are sent via Web3Forms to the site owner's inbox. If you email the site owner, your email is kept so it can be answered. Nothing is used for marketing.
Why (legal basis)
- Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) for Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for hosting logs, fonts, images and videos: they are needed to show you the site and keep it running safely.
- Your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)) when you send feedback or an email and expect a reply.
Who else handles the data
| Provider | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel Inc. | Hosts the site. Keeps short-lived server logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser). | USA, served from a European region where possible |
| Google (Google Analytics 4) | Visit statistics: pages viewed, device, approximate location. Only after you accept. | USA / EU |
| Google (Google Fonts) | Delivers the site fonts. Your browser sends your IP address to Google when it downloads them. | USA / EU |
| Microsoft (Clarity) | Session recordings and heatmaps (clicks, scrolls, mouse movement). Only after you accept. | USA |
| ImageKit | Delivers the images and videos. Your browser sends your IP address when it loads them. | EU / USA (global CDN) |
| Web3Forms | Delivers the Feedback form to the site owner by email (only if you send it). | USA / EU |
| Google (YouTube) | One case study embeds a YouTube video. YouTube receives your IP address and may set its own cookies when that page loads. | USA |
Some of these providers are based in the USA, so data may be transferred outside the EU. These transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, and on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
How long it is kept
- Google Analytics: according to Google's retention settings, up to 14 months.
- Microsoft Clarity: according to Microsoft's retention, about 13 months.
- Your cookie choice: 6 months in your browser, then the banner asks again.
- Hosting logs: for the short period set by Vercel.
- Feedback and emails: as long as needed to reply, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data held about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, or receive a copy of it. To do any of this, email the site owner.
You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer. Withdrawing does not affect anything collected before.
You also have the right to complain to the Czech data protection authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ), uoou.gov.cz.
